Clannad ~After Story~ Joint Project
Yeah, so, this is what has been causing all the major delays around here.
Shortly before I left to go on vacation, I was approached by members of Tasty-subs to help them come up with an idea for a first release. Someone mentioned Clannad, but the idea was tabled, because a certain group already had plans to do AS, and as quite a few Tasty-Subs members worked for this other group…it couldn’t be helped. A few days later, the leader of Shini-subs also approached me about ideas for new shows. AS was discussed again, but this time, before it was tabled, I interjected. Things got discussed, decisions got made, and before you know it, [STD] was born.
Yes, the name of this 3-way joint is [STD] (Which stands for Shini, Tasty, and Delicio.us). There were a few other reasons to go with the name, chief amongst them being 1. We’re infectious, and 2. We’ll make your junk hurt (from jizzing so much after you see these encodes). We actually had the BDMVs before the other groups, but held off on releasing until we were sure what the other groups were doing. Now that STD is pretty much in agreement that we have the best release, I’ll let everyone else decide:
Release Info:
Subs: SS-Eclipse, of course, with new OP/ED karaoke.
Comes in two flavors: One with TL Notes, and one without.
Audio: This is a dual-audio release, and the info is as follows:
Japanese Audio: 1080p – DTS Master Audio (Lossless), 720p and 480p – 5.1 .aac
English Audio: 1080p, 720p, and 480p – English 2.0 .ac3
*Note* For people who hate the .dts and .aac, we’re offering the 5.1 FLAC audio via fileserve.
We will also be offering the commentary track, in .aac format.

*Small Edit* – Just want to point out that this isn’t a Delicio.us release; We just helped with the encoding. If you see a problem with the encodes, come here and bitch at me, or go bitch at Shinisaki. For everything else, go here.
Episodes will be released in small clusters, as we all have RL schedules to keep. Torrents will be be created on a per volume basis, so that means releases will only be available for download from Fileserve until all episodes on that volume have been released. Then, once everything has been released, it will all be grouped into 3 mega-batches. We have divided up the NCOP and 4 NCEDs amongst the 5 volumes. One will be released with each volume batch, starting with the NCOP.

tl;dr:
1. It’s already a lossless audio track
2. The size difference didn’t warrant a re-encode
but I already figured people would still complain even after I explained it, so I planned on offering 5.1 FLAC on FS from the beginning.

The font isn’t very good.
DTS when FLAC is smaller and better.
Not DXVA compatible, although I don’t care too much about it.

I’ll probably keep Doki or Coalgirls.

2. iirc, aren’t people bitching about the other groups messing with the SS-Eclipse styling? Far as I know, Tasty-subs didn’t touch anything except kara.
3. “The font isn’t very good.” – But, the fonts name is Clannad.
4. As I already said, I didn’t see a point in re-encoding that DTS Master into a FLAC when the size difference was slightly over 100MB. FLAC 5.1 will be posted for whoever wants it. (*Update* FS link has been added to post).

You know, I took a look at your underwater ‘lol lets put massive padding on our subtitles because this is the way it should be done’ screenshot. I find an argument for catering to overscan problems a bit crazy. No modern display is going to have this problem, so what is the point in covering up more of the art than needed? Are you unable to read subtitles at the bottom of the screen for some reason?

Derp, just spotted another fail in that SS; Kanji is wrong. It should be “明日へと続く小さな標”.
@yusaku: Did you give up trying to defend you own release and started finding mistakes on others eh?
I don’t see that mistake in Doki’s release, on which episode is that? The big difference is, if Doki knows about it, he will fix it soon (if it isn’t already fixed).
You think your subs are better, so you won’t change it right?
Anyway we all know that missing translation notes and hard-to-read subs is less important that a mistake in the kana on the ED.

“You think your subs are better, so you won’t change it right?” – Umm, assuming that this was a Delicio.us release, and we had TLed it, yes, I would have. But this is a Tasty-subs release, and they’re using SS-Eclipse subs. The only things Delicio.us is responsible for here are the .avs used to encode the BDMV, and the karaoke.
*Edit* I’d just like to point out that Tasty decided to take TomoyaX’s advice and make some adjustments. A v2 of Episode 01 has been released, and from here out, overscan issues have been taken into consideration. Also a second sub track has been added, one with the TL notes present, so people can choose whether they want the notes visible or not. Enjoy the release.
Hint: 01v2 brings some changes to padding, font size, and TL notes.
